Renaissance is proud to be helping Hillsborough County with their Vision Zero campaign. The Vision Zero campaign focuses on making local streets safer for bicyclists, pedestrians and asserts that focusing poor roadway designs and unsafe learned behaviors is the key to preventing traffic related fatalities. The campaign was recently featured in 83 degrees, a local online publication. The movement originated in Sweden and focuses on roadway design and unsafe learned behaviors as a way of preventing traffic deaths.
The Tampa area joins cities such as Boston, New York, D.C and San francisco. Originating in Sweden, the Tampa area is the second region in Florida, after Ft. Lauderdale to enact Vision Zero.
Renaissance is the lead consultant helping the MPO implement Vision Zero and move Hillsborough County towards zero traffic related fatalities. We are assisting with communications and engagement, including a website, interactive map to share safety concerns, and the development of communications materials. We are also leading two of the four Action Tracks: one focused on changing the culture around roadway design and the other focused on engaging with the public to share the message of Vision Zero. We will develop the final action plan that will be implemented over the following 1- to 2- years.
