We are excited to announce that Ysela Llort has joined Renaissance as a Principal in South Florida, based out of our Miami, FL office.

Ysela brings over 30+ years of leadership experience working with DOT's and transit agencies in advancing multimodal policy and institutional reform. Serving as Assistant Secretary of the Florida Department of Transportation, Ysela was in charge of establishing leadership and direction in the development of multimodal plans and programs. She also helped craft changes in project planning, environmental analysis methods and project delivery based on strong collaborations with residents, elected officials and the business community. 

Most recently, Ysela oversaw Miami-Dade’s transit system as the county’s Transit Director from 2011 to 2015. Ysela is credited with establishing the metro’s Orange Line to Miami International Airport, strengthening Miami-Dade Transit's partnership with the Federal Government and restoring commitment to transit. Ysela also spent several years working with the Virginia Department of Transportation in the Northern Virginia District where she oversaw planning and operational programs and was in instrumental in the development of the first sub-area transportation plan for the four-county region.

Ysela has been recognized nationally by the National Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO) as well as by Cien Latinos/Hispano’s de Miami-Dade for her transportation work in the state of Florida. She serves on the executive committee of the Transportation Research Board (TRB), an arm of the National Academy of Science and Engineering. She is fluent in Spanish and has a Master’s in Planning from Clemson University and a Bachelor’s in Economics and Anthropology from Duke. You can reach Ysela at yllort@citiesthatwork.com
