GIS & Planning Analyst

Durham and Orlando 

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and technically-proficient professional to fulfill the role of GIS & Planning Analyst in our Durham and Orlando offices. 

This position is ideal for a technically-oriented professional with an interest in the advanced application and design of travel demand forecasting techniques, modeling regional growth and development, and creating processes to support complex, data-driven urban planning projects. The primary responsibilities of the position include supporting projects across the company by conducting technical analyses, designing software-based and web-based analytical tools, summarizing analytical findings into compelling narratives, graphics and other communication work products, applied research in transportation modeling and land use modeling, and other related tasks.

Workload may require occasional weekend hours and some travel between offices and client sites. Renaissance offers a business casual working environment and supports flexible schedules. Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience, with firm understanding of use of Geographic INformation Systems (GIS) to analyze urban and regional planning problems.
  • Ideally, experience with Python scripting, ArcObjects SDK, database design/SQ
  • Design and implementation of analytical tools to support planning approaches that integrate transportation and land use considerations.
  • Experience with website design/development and web-based mapping and data-driven applications is a plus.

Tampa and Arlington

The primary responsibilities of the position include supporting projects across the company by conducting policy and technical analyses, summarizing analytical findings into compelling narratives, graphics and other communication work products, applied research and compiling best practices, working with community stakeholders, and other related tasks.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation or community planning
  • A firm understanding of the metropolitan transportation planning process, and analytical skills to support multimodal evaluations at the system, subarea and corridor planning levels.  
  • Strong core competency in applied planning theory, incorporating integrated planning approaches, task management, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
